May found Sunrise baking, mixing and
We start off the month with our annual hands on project at the United Presbyterian Church in Blasdell. Each year our fearless leader, Marian Meyers, has us prepare and serve lunch at the church's soup kitchen.  This year our assigned day was May 1st. Marian planned the menu, purchased the ingredients and then directed us in preparing the food and serving our guests.  She had a vary tasty menu: meat and vegetarian lasagna, salad, bread and the Big Hit - Pizza! Then to top off the meal she had her sister baked gourmet brownies. All of the diners commented on the food and the change of pace from their usual meals. In addition to serving a hot meal Sunrise made a project of adding to the church's pantry.  Each Rotarian was asked to contribute a pound of dry pasta and funds left over from the soup kitchen budget were used to purchase more pasta. This effort resulted in Sunrise donating 70 pounds of dry pasta to this pantry. A special thank you to the Rotarians who donated pasta. You are an excellent example of Rotarians caring for the less fortunate in our community. And, Marian, thank you for taking on this project every year.
